Seize each word, or every few words, in your tefillos. Use hand motions, if it helps, as you delve into the meaning. But then keep it moving, looking for the next word or three to pounce on.
This is a compromise of sorts. The Anshei Knesses HaGedolah infused each word with layers of meaning. We're not advocating doing this for every word necessarily, and when you do seize, perhaps you only scratch the surface of the meaning infusion. But that's OK.
